Open in Browser Button
Post by walker@amigos.org »
When I have an XML file with stylesheet reference open in Oxygen and press the Open in Browser button, I get the following message: "Cannot open find file [Filepath\filename.xml]. Make sure the path or internet address is correct." Why, if I can find the file (in fact I have it open in Oxygen), can't Oxygen find the file?
If I choose File>>Open File in the browser, the file opens fine.

Re: Open in Browser Button
Dear Bill,
Thank you for contacting us.
If there is no default browser configured in Oxygen, the "Open in browser" button actually tries to open a file using the associated application. On your system XML files are probably associated with an application which cannot open the URLs.
The best thing to do is to go to the Oxygen Options->Preferences->Global page and in the "Default internet browser" section enter the path to your preferred browser's executable.
Regards,
Radu

Radu,
I do have Internet Explorer designated as the default browser to launch and display the XML when I click the Open in Browser button. I also tried Firefox. After clicking on the Open in Browser button and click OK on the resulting message, IE launches a blank page (when IE is chosen as the default browser in Preferences/Global. IF Firefox is the default browser it displays a blank page without the error message.

Re: Open in Browser Button
Dear Bill,
Is the file you are trying to open from the local drive or is it remote?
Can you open the file in Oxygen, click on the "Add to Project" button from the "Project" view and then right click the added file, choose "Copy location" and paste it here?
Maybe we'll be able to reproduce the situation.
Regards,
Radu

Hi, Radu,
The file is on the local drive. I am puzzled because this functionality has worked until this week. I tried the fix you suggested and still no luck.

Dear Bill,
I was not trying to give you a fix, I just wanted you to paste in your forum response the full URL path as given by Oxygen for the opened file.
Regards,
Radu
