Compatibility with OpenJDK6

Post by bnordgren »

OpenJDK6 is starting to become available on major linux distributions. As it is unemcumbered by licensing concerns, I intend to use it when I make a linux image. I would like very much to see that OpenJDK is supported. Currently XML Author 9.3 does not appear to run on OpenJDK6, though eclipse ganymede does.

Thanks

Hello,

Oxygen/Author works with both the Java 1.5 virtual machine and the Java 1.6 one from Sun Microsystems. Just download the Linux kit from the Download page and install it on your Linux machine because it includes a Java virtual machine which we tested on several Linux distributions (the Java update 1.6.0_05 which we patched for fixing some bugs in the official JVM 1.6.0 from Sun Microsystem that occurs on Fedora computers and on Linux computers running the Compiz window manager or Compiz related window managers).

Does Oxygen installed with this kit not work on your Linux system? What error do you get? Can you post the full error message? What is the name and version of your Linux distribution and what is the value of the property java.home which you can see in the System properties tab of the About dialog opened from menu Help -> About?

Regards,
Sorin
