Licesning of Web Help

Post by rfitzger »

We are going to be shipping the Advanced Web Help that is generated via Oxygen XML Editor to our customers. Are there any 3rd party licensing agreements that I need to be aware of, for example, regarding the Search functionality? I believe the Search is using Lucene? I don't see anything in the Oxygen EULA about this. Do we need to add anything to our notices regarding the use of Lucene or any other 3rd party product that the Web Help uses? Thanks.

Hi,

You can freely distribute the Web Help content without any particular restrictions. There are some Java libraries used to build the index Javascript files when publishing the DITA content to WebHelp but the final WebHelp output is entirely HTML + Javascript (incorporating free jQuery Javascript files).
