Diff Directories: Include files, Exclude files, Exclude folders are too small

Post by tatra603 »

Hello,

may I ask You to change the user interface for "Diff Directories": Include files, Exclude files, Exclude folders? They are too small, just about 14 characters each, so it is hard to read values inside them.

What about some pop-up window or resizable input or out of the box left aligned next to the Save Results to HTML icon together to the 1/3 of rest space for each input?

I have 27'' wide monitor and the input is so small, that I need to Copy&Paste values from outside editor.

Thank You for understanding, Stepan

Hello Stepan,

So far, we haven't received any (negative) comments related to the usage of those options.
But I assume that you often use custom templates when using the options in question, and some of them can be quite long.
I will add an entry to our internal feature request tool to look into how we can improve the design of the Diff Directories dialog box in relation to this aspect.
And I will add your comment there.

Regards,
Teo

Hello, Teo,

yes, values I am using now are (scrambled ones):

Code: Select all

Include files: *
Excude files: abcdef.abc, *.def, *.ghi, *.ghijklmnopq.jkl
Exlude foldes: *AbcdeFghijlMnopqrstuv, *AbcdeFghijlmno, AbcdefghiJklmno, AbcdefgijKlmnopqrStuvwX1
Sou You can imagine, it is not so easy to read and edit them in the current version of DiffDirs text inputs. So that is why I asked for a change.

One more thing, but I guess, that it could be used by quite a few users, but who knows, would be to save and reload combination of these three values into something like named bookmark or template (even including settings used for comparison of diff files and diff dirs). I already asked for the same approach (named bookmarks) years ago for Find&Replace functionality, but I guess, there is not enough voting for this. One can see feature-request/topic10899.html

Regards, Stepan
