OpenPGP card support for Git plugin

Post by patrick-kox »

Hi,
I hope this is the correct place to ask this.

From what I understand it's possible to let the Git plugin for XML Editor to connect to a host (like GitLab) using SSH, with a key/password combination.
But I use an openPGP smartcard to authenticate, and that doesn't seem to work.

Normally when I place my card in my card-reader and try to connect to an SSH server I"m prompted to enter my PIN, but the Git plugin shows a dialog box to enter a "passphrade" and entering my PIN in that box doesn't work.

So I was wondering if it's possible to include support for openPGP smartcards in a future release ?
Also, the YubiKey 4 (and newer) are also openPGP compatible so instead of a smarcard some yubikey's can also be used.

Thanks
Patrick

Hello Patrick,

Thank you for your feedback! I created a feature request in our issue management system for providing support for hardware authentication devices in our Git client. We will update this thread once we do that.

All the best wishes,
