Any insights on iiRDS and DITA?

Are they competing architectures? Would someone using DITA be well advised to not add an extra layer of IA complexity by trying to also incorporate iiRDS? Thanks for any insights.

Maybe you could also try to ask this question on the DITA Users List:

From what I know iiRDS defines a zip-like package format containing resources (which could be for example HTML, PDF, anything) and some metadata describing those resources.
There is also a DITA OT plugin for DITA to iiRDS but I do not think I've tried it:

So no, I do not see iiRDS competing with DITA XML.
