Issues in Table colums

Post by Raga Mounika »

Hi Team,

I am using Eclipse plugin with oXygen18.
In table there are some findings
1. When inserting a new column, the column width is not the same as previous column width( at cursor position new column is added with 1* width ). Column width is always set to 1*. It has to be edited manually after every column insertion.
2. When splitting or merging columns some times it is randomly showing a warning message.
Ex: The number of cells is less than value of table attribute cols.

I found these issues in stand alone oXygen 18 as well.
Please provide the possible solution to overcome this issue.

Thanks and Regards,
Mounika

Hi Mounika,

Please see some answers below:
1. When inserting a new column, the column width is not the same as previous column width( at cursor position new column is added with 1* width ). Column width is always set to 1*. It has to be edited manually after every column insertion.
Yes, I confirm the behavior and we will not change this. Why should we assume the end user wants to create a column with the same width as the current one? The end user can resize the column afterwards. If you want to change this default behavior you can probably create your own custom operation to insert columns, copying the current operation and modifying it.
2. When splitting or merging columns some times it is randomly showing a warning message.
Ex: The number of cells is less than value of table attribute cols.
If you can provide a sample DITA file exhibiting the problem and tell us more about the place where you split or merge the columns we could give you more details about the behavior.
