Problems associating Oxygen with XML, XSL and DTD files

Post by Warren Grant »

I would like to associate Oxygen with these file types under Win XP. However Oxygen does not appear on the list of available programs when I got to define the associated program for each of these file types. Looking inside the configuration preferences for Oxygen I don't see a way to associate it there either. Choosing to select the associated program and picking Oxygen.exe doesn't seem to work as well (first thing I tried of course).

Does anyone know of an easy solution to this problem? I have tried reinstalling the program over top of the current installed version, do I need to completely uninstall it then reinstall to get the file associations working correctly?

One easy way to do it:

1. Go to Main Menu / Options and set "Integrate into Explorer shell" option.
2. Select a file having one of the required extensions (xml, xsl, dtd or others)
3. Right click on it.
4. You will see two choices:
a) Open with oXygen (open that file with oXygen)
b) Open *.selected_extension with oXygen (associate that file with oXygen)

I believe the second choice is of interest for you.
