Custom spell checker

How do I use a custom spell checker with Author 14. In particular I want to enable Stedman's http://www.stedmans.com/product.cfm/376/216 dictionary. We have a custom DocBook document type association set up for our users.

We installed Stedman's for Word. It creates a .lex file. As far as I know that is microsoft only format. What format does the dictionary need to be to work with Oxygen? Where can I find more info on it.

I noticed some spell files in %AppData%\com.oxygenxml.author\spell. Are these hunspell files? Should custom dictionary be in same format. Can I just append custom words to these files?

The spell checker used in Oxygen is the Hunspell Spell Checker:

We also support an older spell checker for backward compatibility reasons.

Hunspell is an open source engine used in many applications.

Can I just append custom words to these files?
