disable menu shortcuts with ALT ? or changing Key
Post by matthieu.ricaud »
Hi,
I'm new to oXygen and I have to configure it so I get my usual shortcuts.
I used to use Jedit and after a while i finaly get good shortcuts combination to work with XML, which I'm quite satisfie (and used to it)
Most of the shortcuts I use are base on ALT key. For instance "ALT+C" is "inverse line comment".
I set this in the oXygen options, but this doesn't work because ALT+C is by default dedicated to get the focus on "Document" menu.
Actually each menu can be access through "ALT+one Letter". And it seems to have priority on self defined shortcuts.
Does that mean I won't be able to get my old good usual shortcuts ?
Is there a way to change this behaviour ?
Thanks in advance,
Matthieu.

Hello,
No, the Alt+letter shortcuts that open the menus cannot be changed. They are standard shortcuts in the applications that have a menu bar. You can set a shortcut for an action from menu Options -- Menu Shortcut Keys but you can override only the shortcuts that are available in the Menu Shortcut Keys table.
Regards,
Sorin

what a pity !
thank you for answering anyway.
I tried to change ALT key to WINDOWS key in my shortcuts, but it seems it's not allowed to use this key in shortcut combination.
Can you confirm this ?

Matthieu.

Hello,
Only Ctrl, Alt and Shift can be added to a letter for composing a shortcut in the Menu Shortcut Keys panel. The Windows key is available only on Windows that is reserved for triggering the popup menu. Oxygen is a cross-platform application so we restricted the modifiers to the three keys mentioned above.
