Attributes Window in Author Mode

Does Oxygen handle the Attributes window differently in text and author mode? I am using a framework to edit XML in author mode and whenever I type a space, there is a 5-8 second pause. Anything typed after the space is also very slow.

However, using the Attributes window in text mode works perfectly fine. What could cause this?

Currently the DTD is a web URL, and switching the declaration to resolve locally helps, but does not eliminate the problem. And in text mode it is fine both ways.

This happens in Oxygen and Author.

Indeed when editing an attribute value in the Author the editor tries to determine if the value is valid and also takes into account the associated DTD's which is time consuming.
I added an improvement request to optimize these validation tests and we'll update the post when it gets implemented.
