Breakpoint in XML not working
Oxygen 11.2 or 12.1, Ubuntu 10.04, Sun JDK or OpenJDK
I know this use to work!
I set a break point in the XML(tei) source and the debugger never stops. Doesn't matter how many I set it ignores them all?

Re: Breakpoint in XML not working
Hello,
First things first. Oxygen only supports the Java SE JDK/JRE from Oracle(formerly from Sun). It won't work properly with OpenJDK, GNU or other open source JVMs, you get a warning that mentions this when you start Oxygen with an unsupported JVM.
Secondly, the debugger breakpoints depend on the processor that is used. Some breakpoints are ignored if placed in locations that the processor ignores.
Saxon for example performs some optimizations of the source code and as a result breakpoints that are located in the code that was optimized are ignored.
For Saxon-EE/PE/HE this can be resolved by decreasing the optimization level to 0. This can be controlled from the Advanced options(cogwheel icon) from the Scenario editing dialog(Document -> Transformation -> Configure Transformation Scenario, Edit). Globally this can be adjusted in Options -> Preferences -> XML -> XSLT-FO-XQuery -> XSLT -> Saxon -> Saxon-HE/PE/EE
Regards,
Adrian

Re: Breakpoint in XML not working
Thanks for the lightning quick reply!
I normally use the Sun JDK, but Ubuntu come with the OPenJDK and I momentarily switched to it to see if it made any difference. I started Oxygen from a Icon app launcher and saw no complaint about using the OpenJDK.
I will try reducing the optimization level and see how that goes.
