Disable loading Docbook in Author Mode

Greetings,

I'm dealing with some very long, very complex Docbook files and I need to view them as XML rather than in Author mode. Oxygen likes to initially display the files in Author mode when I open them-how can I set the default view mode for Docbook files to be Text mode rather than Author mode? Thanks.

Hello,

If you want to change this only for Docbook files then go to Options -> Preferences -> Document Type Association.
Select DocBook 4 or 5 and Edit it. Duplicate it when asked to do so.
At the bottom left of the "Document type" dialog you can find the "Initial page" option. From that combo box choose Text.
All XML documents of DocBook type will then be initially open in Text mode.

If you want to force all types of XML documents to be opened in Text mode disregarding the initial page set in Document Type association, you can do this in Options -> Preferences -> Editor -> Pages. Disable the option "Allow Document Type specific page settings to override the general page settings".

Thanks Adrian. The Author mode document-opening behavior was leading to long lock-ups of Oxygen due to the massive size of the Docbook files in use, this'll save me a lot of time.
