ZendStudio crashes after upgrading to 11.2
Upgraded from 11.1 to 11.2 (via "check for updates" in Eclipse) an hour ago.
Result: Eclipse crashes whenever I try to open an XML-file, or when I browse the Oxygen-settings in Window/Preferences. No entry in workspace/.metadata/.log.
Seems, 11.2 is the solution, if you want to prevent users to work with XML in Eclipse ...
There were no problems with 11.1.

Please give us more details like:
- Eclipse version and build number;
- Java version;
- OS name and version.
What exactly you mean by "eclipse crashes" ? The whole workbench is dying or only the oXygen plugin won't start.

Mircea.

"Crashing" means: Eclipse abruptly vanishes from my monitor, leaving me glancing at my Desktop
The Eclipse-processes are killed to; ps aux returns empty.
The system is a 64bit openSuse 11.1; Eclipse is ZendStudio 7.1.2
Here is an excerpt from my installation details (let me know, if you need more):

Re: ZendStudio crashes after upgrading to 11.2
Hi,
In the Eclipse installation directory is there by any chance a java.crash.log file? If so, can you post its contents?
Regards,
Radu

Re: ZendStudio crashes after upgrading to 11.2
I cannot find a java.crash.log (neither in the installation dir, nor in the workspace/.metadata)
But after a crash the following is added to workspace/.metadata/.log:

After further inspection, it really seems to be hunspell... E.g. Opening the Preferences Window, a Click on "oxygen->Editor->Spell Check" crashes the process as well.

[PATCH] Re: ZendStudio crashes after upgrading to 11.2
Post by KampfCaspar »
Replacing
libhunspell-linux-x86-64.so from
/plugins/com.oxygenxml.editor_11.2.0.v2010031913/lib/hunspell
by its system counterpart
the crashing seems to be solved.

Re: ZendStudio crashes after upgrading to 11.2
Hello,
We are still investigating this.
So far we have only managed to obtain a dead lock(ZendStudio freezes) when the Oxygen plugin is initialized. But no crash(segmentation fault).
The strange thing is that even this behaviour seems to only happen in Ubuntu 9.10 64bit. In Ubuntu 8.04 64bit everything works fine. So it looks like the platform is an important factor and possibly the Java Virtual Machine.
As soon as we come to a conclusion we will provide a patch.
Regards,
Adrian

Re: ZendStudio crashes after upgrading to 11.2
We managed to reproduce the hunspell crash in both Ubuntu 9.10 and openSUSE 11.2 64bit.

Re: ZendStudio crashes after upgrading to 11.2
Right now the best workaround is the one you have found.
Copy /usr/lib64/libhunspell-1.2.so.0 to the plugins/com.oxygenxml.editor_11.2.0.v2010032314/lib/hunspell directory from the ZendStudio installation directory and rename it to libhunspell-linux-x86-64.so.
We are working on building a statically linked hunspell library that would work in both Ubuntu 8.04 and 9.10. So far we haven't found a build that doesn't crash either in one or in the other.

Adrian

Re: ZendStudio crashes after upgrading to 11.2
Hello,
I just posted a bug report, sorry for having done it before going through this forum.
Well I'm experiencing the same problem on windowsXP and on Ubuntu 9.10 32bit with Zend Studio 7.1.2 Build ID: 20100221.
If you need more info from my side, please give instructions on how to retrieve them from my machines.
Bye
Jean Pierre

Re: ZendStudio crashes after upgrading to 11.2
The build that fixes these problems is now available(2010032411):
Download from:
http://www.oxygenxml.com/download_oxygenxml_editor.html
Install in Eclipse from:
http://www.oxygenxml.com/InstData/Edito ... e/site.xml
Or simply Check for Updates from Eclipse/Zend Studio if you have installed Oxygen from the update site.
Let us know if you encounter further problems.
