Ditamap manager
Post by PaulHermans »
a) Context: Oxygen XML Author in Eclipse
Using: New from templates - > DitaMap (Map).
The new file opens in the Author view.
While Oxygen XML Author standalone opens the template in the DitaMap Manager and the documentation states "All files which have the extension .ditamap and are opened in the application will be opened in the DITA Maps Manager view."
The are buttons to go from Manager View to Editor, but not in the reverse direction.
b) Context: all versions (Eclipse and standalone)
small GUI enhancement question
DitaMap Manager, Open Map in Editor
Forget what you have done.
Same Ditamap in DitaMap Manager, Open Map in Editor with resolved topics.
Nothing happens, while you expect a spinning wheel to appear.
Reason: file is already opened unexpanded.
Request if it is possible to replace the already opened one with the expanded one.
The same when done in the reverse sequence.

Re: Ditamap manager
Hi Paul,
Answer for (a):
In Eclipse we have not been to redirect the opened DITA Map in the DITA Maps Manager view. The platform fully controls the creation/opening of a file and the place where it is opened.
What you can do is right click the file in the project and "Open in DITA Maps Manager". We also have plans to add an action which opens in the DITA Maps Manager view a Map currently opened in the main editor area.
Answer for (b):
Good point, users may find the described situation confusing (the action does not seem to work anymore). We'll try to find a solution for this one.
Regards,
Radu
