Getting rid of pop-up in Author view?
Just starting to try Oxygen for Docbook editing and am running into a feature that I hope can be disabled. In author view, every time I hit enter it prompts me with a pop-up menu to determine the next section type, rather than, say, adding another instance of the last section. Is there any way to change this behavior? Its really distracting/annoying. I wouldn't mind it if it popped up when you did something like ctrl-enter, but having it show up every time you hit enter is nearly unusable in my opinion.
Hope there is a way to change this.

Re: Getting rid of pop-up in Author view?
Dear Jeff,
Thank you for contacting us.
If you are working inside a paragraph or a section and you hit the ENTER key the first entry presented should be "Split section/para". If you choose it, a new paragraph/section will be added after the one you are currently working in.
Pressing "ENTER" can insert new lines only in space-preserve sections like program listings because text in all other sections is presented as normalized so we thought ENTER is a good natural way to trigger content completion.

Radu

Re: Getting rid of pop-up in Author view?
Radu,
Your authoring view is a nice way to edit DocBook documents but this "feature" really interferes with the writing process. You can imagine that I am writing a document and I have many paragraphs - this pop-up thing gives me no value and really gets in the way each time I go to the next paragraph. Its not a natural user experience.
What I would have expected is that the default effect of hitting enter would be to create another section that is the same kind as the last one I was editing. This is how all/most document editors work. In most cases I will want another list item when editing a list or another paragraph following the last paragraph.
Had you provided the pop-up with a modifier key+enter it would have been perfect. I could even get used to it the other way around, like if there was a modifier key with enter that would add another instance of the last section type without the pop-up (less than ideal but better than it is now).
My colleagues and I are looking for a solid Docbook editor (we have recently switched our companies document format to Docbook), and have been trying a few and are basically down to Oxygen and XXE. We do lots of documentation in Docbook so it is important that any editor we are using "feels" natural and is efficient. Though we like the other features in Oxygen, the pop up thing is driving us to the point that we will likely go with XXE, unfortunately.
If there is a way to change this behavior please let me know.
Jeff

Re: Getting rid of pop-up in Author view?
Dear Jeff,
If you hit ENTER in a paragraph you will have as a first option "Split PARA" so hitting ENTER twice while inside a paragraph will add another paragraph after it just as I understood you want to.
There is a toolbar action called "Insert a list item" which can be used when you are editing a paragraph in a list item and want to insert another list item after it. The action can also have a configurable keyboard shortcut.
For the moment there is no way to change the default behavior of the ENTER key in the Author page. It is used as a fast means to split the current section or enter markup like emphasys and it can also be used on selected text to mark it up.
