Editing pane triangles

Post by axial »

WinXP, Oxy 9.2/9.3
At the top right of the editing pane there are two left/right facing triangles to the left of the square symbol that drops down a list of the tabs open in the pane.

What are the triangles for? They aren't clickable and don't seem to do anything. They look like they should cycle the focus through the tabs if there are multiple tabs open in the pane?

Hello,

No, the two triangles do not cycle the focus through the tabs. They scroll the line with the tab titles when the titles of all the tabs do not fit on a single line on the screen. Only one line is reserved for the tab titles in order to maximize the editing area and a way to scroll through the tabs is needed in addition to the square symbol that drops down a list of the tabs. Just open 10 or 15 files to see how the triangle buttons work.

You can cycle through the tabs with the shortcuts Ctrl + Tab (in the order most recently used first) and Ctrl + Shift + Tab (in the order least recently used first).

Ah, thanks, Sorin. I'm maniacal about using short filenames with the critical identifying letters at the front of the filename, so I never ever would have guessed this one. :)
