Author Mode Overriding Text Mode

Post by pbentley »

Hey there, hoping someone can help me with this. I have my default opening view set to text, but I've found that occasionally if I save a ditamap/dita file while it is in author mode, the next time it opens it'll be in author mode. This causes an issue when I try to open a huge ditamap that's been saved in author...it takes forever to open. Is there anything I can do to make the files always open in text, even if they were previously saved as author?

Thanks!

Hi,
In general Oxygen will remember how you last closed an XML document and re-open it in the same editing mode.
In the Oxygen Preferences->"Editor / Edit Modes" page there is a setting "Allow Document Type specific...", unchecking it will at least open DITA Map documents you have not opened before in the Text editing mode.
One more thing about increasing the loading speed of maps in the Author mode, in the Preferences->"DITA / Maps" page you can uncheck the "Expand references to other maps...." checkbox.
