Slow opening network files

We just installed V24_Build_ 2022012607. And we are noticing opening XML files from a network path or from a OneDrive location are taking longer to open than a file on the local harddrive. This was not the case in oxygen V15_Build_2014040317.

I looked around on the forum and it was suggested to uninstall OpenJDK, but this is not installed on the PC.
The PCs are on Windows 10, ver 20H2. Any other things to try would be greatly appreciated.

How much longer does it take - a second or two, or many seconds?

In Windows, my experience is that network filesystem access is always slower, sometimes significantly (and not specific to Oxygen). For example, sometimes it takes several seconds to copy a PDF file from my local computer to a network archive folder.

OneDrive is a local folder that is synchronized, so it should be close to local drive access. However, you might want to do some file-copying experiments (outside of Oxygen) to see if this is true for you.

@chrispitude, networked files is taking about 20-50seconds longer to longer to open. The same goes for the OneDrive.
My Onedrive is accessible off the VPN, so I decided to try it and it was still about 20 seconds slower than opening the same file directly off my C drive.

The suggestion you found on the forum is most likely referring to the OpenJDK distribution of Oxygen. Note that Oxygen is currently available in at least two distributions, one bundles the legacy Java SE 8u202 and the other OpenJDK (currently 17.0.2).
Check if your current installation runs with OpenJDK, menu > Help > About, System properties, look for java.runtime.name and java.runtime.version.
So if the problem seems to be specific to Oxygen and you are currently running Oxygen with OpenJDK, uninstall it and try the other variant with Java 8:

So I uninstalled and downloaded Windows 64-bit (Includes Java SE 8u202) ( Oxygen XML Developer)

And it seems to be a bit better. I will keep logging times and will report back if I see anything off. Thanks again for all the help
