unable to create webhelp responsive after update to version 24
Hello,
I updated my oXygen Editor today and have come across an issue with webhelp responsive transformation.
I get this error:
Engine name: DITA-OT
5 Severity: fatal
6 Description: Transformation failed.
6 C:\dita-ot\plugins\com.oxygenxml.webhelp.responsive\
6 build_dita.xml:65:j ava.lang.NullPointerException:
6 Cannot invoke
6 "java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Object, Object[])"
6 because
6 "com.sun.xml.bind.v2.runtime.reflect.opt.Injector.de
6 fineClass" is null
I have no issues creating same webhelp with older version.
How could this be fixed?

Re: unable to create webhelp responsive after update to version 24
Hi,
We are not aware of such issues in Oxygen version 24.
How do you publish the WebHelp output? Are you using the WebHelp plugin for DITA-OT to publish from command-line, or are you manually publishing using the WebHelp Responsive transformation from an Oxygen GUI-based software (like Oxygen XML Editor or Author)?
Also, in case you are using the WebHelp plugin, what specific Java version are you using?
And which DITA OT (which specific version)? Is it a clean DITA-OT downloaded from https://www.dita-ot.org/download ? Or is it a customized DITA-OT?
If you are using a GUI softwre, please make sure you download and install the latest version of Editor/Author in its separate folder and do not tinker with the DITA-OT that comes bundled with it. Make sure (check in the Oxygen's menu Options > Preferneces > DITA) that you have the "Built-in Oxygen Publishing Engine (based on DITA-OT 3.X)" selected.
Then, try running the default DITA to WebHelp Responsive transformation scenario, without any customization and see if it works.
If instead you are using the WebHelp plugin for DITA-OT, please make sure you use Java Virtual Machine 1.8 or newer and DITA-OT 3.6.1 (this is the DITA-OT version that we have tested and the only version officially supported), as stated in the Installation section from the WebHelp User-Guide.
Also, if you have a WebHelp license, for the WebHelp plugin product, we recommend you should download and install the [ur=https://www.oxygenxml.com/publishing_en ... load.htmll]Oxygen Publishing Engine[/url], as it already contains the DITA-OT and the WebHelp plugin, which is already integrated and that way you could avoid any issues that may occur due to a faulty integration of the WebHelp plugin in your DITA-OT, or due to an unsupported DITA-OT version. Your WebHelp license key will work to register the Publishing engine, enabling the WebHelp publishing functionality of the engine.
If you still encounter any issues even with a clean installation of Oxygen XML Editor / or Oxygen Publishing Engine, feel free to contact us on our official support email - support@oxygenxml.com and we will continue to dig further and see what happens at your side.
Regards,
Costin

Re: unable to create webhelp responsive after update to version 24
Thank you for the response,
I am using custom webhelp plugin that was made with older version of dita-ot and that is what most likely is causing this issue.
I am not sure how to make custom webhelp plugin (and pdf plugin) compatible with newer version of dita-ot

Hi,
Unfortunately, as it is a custom plugin it is very difficult to provide guidance as this is not developed by us. We try to provide advices as much as we can and the time allows us, but this is not part of the standard WebHelp functionality it is difficult to identify and solve the problem.
I think the best way to move forward would be to contact the developers of that custom plugin.
Also, another option is to contact our (partner network), who can provide professional services on a consulting basis.
Regards,
Ionela
