JRE 1.6 and batik

Post by georgb »

Hi,

downloaded and installed the 8.2 release (tar on Linux, Sun JRE 1.6),
Then ran the oxygen.sh Startup Script. This invariably
made the program run into an exception at around
60% of views loaded. The trace says, roughly, that there is no method
setDisableInteractions(Z) in ....JSVGCanvas.

After some searching, I found two jars in the lib subdirectory,
batik-all-1.6.jar, and batik.jar. Renaming batik.jar using some
non-jar name removed the problem, and oxygen starts as expected.

Is this correct, and maybe worth a notice for users of recent
JVMs, or have I just been lucky?

Hello,

You instaled version 8.2 in the same folder as a previous version and there is a conflict between the two versions of the Batik library. Please install a new version of oXygen in a different folder as we recommend in the User Manual.

OK, thanks, reinstalling following the different
installation instructions has made it work. (The directory
of a previous 8.1 installation did not exist any more, and
I tried after removing ${HOME}/.com.oxygenxml/ completely,
but still...)

Could you consider adapting or linking the installation
instructions on the download page to the instructions
in the manual?

regards,
Georg

We will add a note on the Download page about installing different versions of oXygen in different folders.

Thanks,
