7.2 hanging at 2% of application load

Post by Wabiloo »

Hi!

I've been using several versions of Oxygen for years now, but it is the first time i'm getting the problem.
I've installed Oxygen 7.2 on my laptop months ago and used it happily... until recently.

Whenever I try to load Oxygen now, it just hangs within seconds, showing the "Loading application..." dialog with the progress bar stuck at 2%.
I've left it for more than 15 minutes, but with no luck. Oxygen now never actually starts anymore, but doesn't give me any error message either. It just stops there :-(
The process is using 0% of processor and uses about 44Mb memory.

Whatever I try though, I cannot kill the process. Killing it does nothing, force killing it does nothing...
Before you ask, I haven't touched Java or JRE.

Any idea what on earth is happening?

Hello,

On some Windows XP systems there is a problem when the JVM initializes the file browser dialog. If that is the problem you should experience the same hang problem when you start up other Java applications or when you try to open a file in other Java application using the file browser (Open) dialog. Usually the solution is using other version of the Java virtual machine, for example 1.4.2 if you use 1.5.0 now. In <oXygen/> on Windows you can change the JVM by specifying the path to the JVM home folder in the [oXygen7.2-install-folder]/oxygen7.2.ini as specified in the User Manual (the second note). We can investigate the problem further if you contact us to tell you how to enable logging.

Regards,
Sorin
