Installation problem

Post by Zby »

Hi,

I have upgraded my OS to Win XP SP2 and encountered the following behavior:
* Oxygen 5.1 freezes to dead when run under JRE 1.5 while modifying a scenario. It looks like the dialog looses the focus and one cannot close the dialog box. You have to kill the app. Very annoying but likely JRE is the cause. Downgraded JRE to 1.4.2_08 and all works smoothly

* when opening an XML file by double-clicking on it, Windows installer program is invoked instead of passing the file to the existing instance of Oxygen (or opening a new editor). The Windows installer demands an installation package called oxygen.msi. I don't have it since the Oxygen installer comes as EXE file.

Have you noticed anything similar or know how to deal with it?

Previously, I've been using W2k and had no such problems at all.

Thanks and regards,

Hello,

It is a bug in JRE 1.5.0_03 and later. We filed it to the Sun's bugzilla:

http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bu ... id=6285105

Now the status is "Closed, not reproducible" but the last comment from the bottom of the page is: "after the fix for 4080029 (AWT modality improvement) the notion of `blocked level` is eliminated from windows native code, so the bug is not reproducible anymore. I'm closing it as not reproducible." After the release of the JRE 1.5.0_03 we had a note on our website when the current <oXygen/> version was 6.0 with the recommendation of not using that JRE version. Starting with version 6.1 of <oXygen/> we implemented a workaround so if you use <oXygen/> 6.1 or later the freeze does not occur anymore. For the 5.1 version the workaround is to not use a JRE version later than 1.5.0_02. Also see:
