Copy attempt opens mod file

Post by smarvin »

When I try to copy a section of XML code (DITA) the associated mod file always opens instead. So I have to close it (click not to save if I tried to cut the section of code, because the action always cuts something from the mod file), and try again.

I noticed this problem in 15.2. It wasn't always there. Is there a word-around for this issue?

Thanks.

Hello,

We are not aware of such an issue in v15.2.
On what platform are you running Oxygen (Windows, Mac, Linux, Eclipse)?

By what means are you copying the section of XML code? Are you using a shortcut key (Ctrl+C) or the menus?
A step by step procedure of what you did up to encountering the issue could very helpful in determining the cause.

If it's always the associated mod file that gets opened, even though your XML code selection is unrelated to that mod file, please check the shortcut key for Open External Schema (Options > Menu Shortcut Keys, type 'open external' in the filter field from the panel on the right). This action opens the schema associated in the edited document, so it might be the one that is triggered when you perform the Copy/Cut.
By default Oxygen does not provide a shortcut key for this action, but you may have created one that overlaps with your Copy/Cut shortcuts. If the Open External Schema action does indeed have a shortcut key, edit it, and press the Clear button to remove it.

If that's not the cause of the issue, please let me know so we can continue investigating.

Adrian
