Insert Image Reference via WebDav
Post by pdeisenberg »
Hi.
When inserting a DITA Topic the oXygen UI includes an option for browsing remote data sources (e.g. via webDAV). If you try inserting an image using the insert image toolbar icon however, there is no such option. While the insert "works" and the referenced image is rendered in the editor, the resulting reference consists of an absolute path to the local browser cache. Question: is there an option that will result in an apprpriate relative reference or do we need to implement some event based scripting or other customization?
Thanks!
Paul

Re: Insert Image Reference via WebDav
Hi Paul,
We've had another complaint about the Insert Image action not being able to select an image from a remote location so this will most probably fixed in Oxygen 12.2.
In the meantime Oxygen 12.1 will appear in just a few days and contains an improvement which will help a lot with this case:
In the Preferences->Data Sources page you can add a new Webdav connection to your server. This new connection will be visible in the Data Source Explorer view.
Then, with the new improvements in Oxygen 12.1 you will be able to drag and drop the image from the Data Source Explorer to the Author page and an image reference (relative of course) will be inserted at the drop position.
Regards,
Radu

Re: Insert Image Reference via WebDav
Hi Paul,
The configuration of the Webdav connection in the Preferences->Data Sources page works also in Oxygen 12.0 and is a handy way to see the Webdav structure in a side view.
For the drag and drop feature you will have to wait a couple of days for Oxygen 12.1 to appear. Oxygen 12.1 will also include the modification to allow browsing for remote content when inserting an image.
