Advanced Conditional Profiling Preview with Multi-Context Rendering
Post by agentmonitors »
Hi Oxygen team,
I would like to propose a feature that would significantly improve workflows involving complex conditional profiling in large DITA projects.
Currently, the profiling/conditional text preview works well for simple scenarios, but in real-world documentation sets we often need to validate multiple profiling contexts simultaneously (for example: product variant + audience + delivery channel). Switching back and forth between profiling sets becomes cumbersome, and it’s hard to ensure that cross-topic links, keyrefs, and reused content behave correctly in each profile combination.
Feature request:
A new “Multi-Context Profiling Preview” mode that would allow:
Defining a set of profiling combinations (e.g., 5–20 contexts) and saving them as a reusable preset.
Rendering multiple previews side-by-side or in tabbed form, each representing a different profiling combination.
Live reflow when editing content—so changes in the editor refresh all active profiling contexts.
Visual diff between contexts (highlighting text that appears only in one profile).
API extension so the feature can be triggered from custom frameworks or plugins.
This would greatly help authors who maintain multi-product or multi-audience documentation sets and need reliable ways to validate content variations before publishing.
Is this something that could be considered for a future release?
Thanks in advance for your time and for the fantastic work you do!

Hi,
What version of Oxygen XML are you using?
Maybe setting up a DITA OT project file could be useful for you:
