Diff/Merge on Linux
just wondering if anyone else has experienced problems with Diff tool in 6.0?
I am running Linux (SuSE9.3 at the moment) with JRE 1.4.2.
The Diff viewer doesn't seem to be working as I would expect. Choosing Tools>Compare Files, and loading files either through the Menu, or the file gadgets on the page doesn't seem to do anything.
If I cut and paste the files into the panels, the diff viewer works as expected.

Hi,
We tried to reproduce this problem on Mandrake using java 1.4 but everything works ok.
Can you tell me exactly how the Diff Files utility behaves when you open the File Chooser for one of the panels, select a file and then press OK?
Does that file appear in the corresponding combo box?
Regards, Iulian.

Hi, sure.
Click on the Open or Open URL widget, navigate to a file, select it and click on open:
The status bar at the bottom of the pane changes to the pathname of the file, but no text at all actually appears in the pane.
the same occurs when using the file dropdown to select one of the open files in a project.
I may be able to try this on some other Linux flavours

For anyone else having this problem on Oxygen 6.0
The "Format and indent document on open" option from the Oxygen Preferences/Editor/Format page when selected interferes with the way in which the Diff Files Utility opens files.
This was added to our bug list and will be fixed in the next minor version.
As a workaround you can uncheck that option before opening files in the Diff Files Utility.
If this is not an option for you please contact us and we will provide you with a patch.
