Upgrade to v28
Hello,
I got informed that I can upgrade to v28 (currently working with v27), but I have a few questions about the upgrade process.
1 - Apparently I can use my current license key. Will this really work even though in the license key file the version is specifically spelled out with "v27"?
2 - I work on Mac and need to uninstall the old version completely first. After installing v28, will my customized transformation scenarios work as before and will all the parameters I set for them be there as well? For my transformations, I only adapted an oXygen template via oXygen parameters, CSS and HTML fragments, nothing else.
3 - Is there anything else I should back up before trying to upgrade? (Could I go back to v27 if something goes wrong?)
Thank you.
Best wishes
Herdis

Hello Herdis,

Yes, it can work, a license key besides the version has also a number of maintenance days, if that number of days added to the date when 27.1 was released brings you up to the present day, then the license will work.1 - Apparently I can use my current license key. Will this really work even though in the license key file the version is specifically spelled out with "v27"?
You do not need to do that, you can double click the DMG installer and then drag the Oxygen 28.0 folder to your Desktop for example, then run Oxygen from that folder for a while, just to see if everything is alright. If it is, trash the Oxygen 27.1 folder you have added to the Applications folder and move the other folder from the Desktop to the Applications folder.2 - I work on Mac and need to uninstall the old version completely first.
Yes, Oxygen does not store anything in its installation folder, it has a special settings folder in which it keeps all your settings. After installing v28, will my customized transformation scenarios work as before and will all the parameters I set for them be there as well? For my transformations, I only adapted an oXygen template via oXygen parameters, CSS and HTML fragments, nothing else.
As per my advice above you should keep 27.1 for a while side by side with 28.0.3 - Is there anything else I should back up before trying to upgrade? (Could I go back to v27 if something goes wrong?)
