Diff directories "false positives"

When troubleshooting a merge conflict I noticed that some files marked as different had not differences in content. The timestamps were different, of course, but so was the file size, which I found surprising. I have my settings set up thus:
Options > Diff > Directories Comparison > Compare files by: Content
Options > Diff > Directories Comparison > Navigation: Ask what to do
Any clue appreciated.

How did you reach this conclusion? Is the Diff Files open and no differences are counted? In what mode are you looking (Text/Author)?

If you are using "Compare files by: Content" it also depends on the "Files Comparison" options.
How is the files comparison configured (Diff / Files Comparison)?

My best guess is that there are either whitespace or invisible (0-width) characters that could cause this. But some samples would be required to investigate. If possible, please send them to support@oxygenxml.com or use the Technical Support form to submit them.
