oXygen Offline Help with restricted internect access

Post by B98 »

The Release Notes of 25.1, section Help System, point out that "when your work environment restricts internet access", the Help Menu lets users "download the User Manual".
The landing page of said menu action offers two kinds of links:
  1. a link to the online help (as produced by oXygen's well known WebHelp support, for online viewing),
  2. a download link to a PDF document.
I take it that users with restricted internet access are thus exluded from WebHelp and are forced to search a PDF.
A 1-chunk PDF document of all help texts basically removes integration with the product. I think. Am I supposed to be stuck with a big PDF-of-everything-lumped-together? That's odd, given what oXygen XML is all about. Am I missing something?

Hi,

Thank you for the feedback.
In retrospective it would have been useful to also have the WebHelp documentation as an offline package. Unfortunately that is currently only available online.
I've logged an issue to accommodate it. The offline package is a slightly different WebHelp output (no Oxygen Feedback).

Hi,
One more thing, we actually make Oxygen's documentation available in its base DITA XML format:
https://github.com/oxygenxml/userguide
So someone could use Oxygen, download our public documentation project from GitHub, open the main project DITA Map in Oxygen and apply a profiling filter to produce directly from Oxygen WebHelp Responsive output for the documentation.
