Linux installer like deb, snap, flatpak?
Linux installer like deb, snap, flatpak?
Just wondering if there is a possibility of native linux packages (snap, flatpak, or even deb) becoming available in the future(?)
Re: Linux installer like deb, snap, flatpak?
Hi,
Currently there are no plans to create and distribute native Linux packages.
Oxygen is not a native Linux application (it's Java-based), so there are no real benefits for us from using native packages. We also prefer to bundle a specific version and build of Java runtime that only Oxygen uses, rather than let Oxygen depend on a system installed Java runtime of random version.
There's also the aspect that we prefer to create and test a single Linux package that works on all distributions, rather than having separate Linux packages for multiple distributions. Currently the single .sh installer package satisfies our requirements.
Any specific reason why you want native Linux packages?
Regards,
Adrian
