Add space to end of line when line breaking?

Post by sanGeoff »

Is there any way to add a space to the end of the line when oXygen breaks lines?

When editing in Author mode, oxygen seems to automatically break long lines with no space at the end of the line.
I recently ran into an issue in web based outputs in IE with this format. The DITA-OT passes the text line breaks to the HTML output.

Essentially, if there is a line break in the XML/HTML code without a space at the end of the line, the Ctrl+F search feature in IE 9 and higher will not match the text. Here is my posts about the issue on Microsoft's forums: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Fo ... line-in-ie

Since Microsoft will probably never do anything about it, I think I'm left with only the following options:

Code: Select all

-Go though all our XML content (+100MB) and identify text breaks and add an extra space
Non space ending lines will still appear as new text is is created in oXygen
That is where this post comes in, to try and prevent future cleanup
-Try and tweak the toolkit to reformat the text when rendering HTML output
-Add a header to the HTML output pages to use IE 8 compatibility mode
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

There is no option in Oxygen to add a space to the end of the lines, and even if there were, this would not guarantee that the final output will actually contain the spaces.
Since this can be obtained during the transformation process, I think you should address this question to DITA users list: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/dita-users/ and they might be able to further help you.
