PDF with no page breaks (not for printing)

Post by sbingram »

Is there a way to output a PDF from Docbook that is one continuous page? I don't want to have any page breaks in the document as it will only be viewed electronically not printed. If there have to be page breaks, can they be placed such that some pages are longer than others? (e.g. first page is 12" long, next page is 8" long)

Hi,

I think this could be done by setting a page size with a very large height in the XSLT stylesheets. If you edit the Docbook to PDF transformation scenario and click the Parameters button there is a parameter called "page.height.portrait" which you can set to a very large value like 50in. Then by subsequent cycles of publishing and modifying the parameter you can try to determine a good page height value to fit all the content inside.

You could also try to register on the Docbook Apps Users list and ask a question there, maybe they have a better idea about how to do this.
