How control heading styles in PDF output?

I would like to modify the fonts and formatting of the heading styles in the PDF transformation in OxygenXML. Specifically, in the "DITA Map PDF - based on XSL-FO". What has happened is: our project structure has pushed some topics quite deep--5 or 6 levels deep from the root. This poses no difficul...

Re: PDF XSL-FO won't compile in Oxygen 23.1

Sorry Radu, I forgot about this thread as I moved back to Oxygen 22.1 to avoid the problem. So if I replace the problematic section with: <xsl:call-template name="output-message"> <xsl:with-param name="id" select="'DOTX066W'"/> <xsl:with-param name="msgparams">%1=getString</xsl:with-param> </xsl:cal...

WebHelp output from Oxygen 23.1 garbled

I just noticed more problems with version 23.1: it garbles the output of my WebHelp. See the two attached screenshots: the 22.1 version displays the page correctly, while the 23.1 version wrecks the line spacing and introduces some weird overlay garble over my "Note" elements. Output from OxygenXML ...

PDF XSL-FO won't compile in Oxygen 23.1

I just installed Oxygen XML Author v23.1 and now my PDF will not compile using the PDF based on XSL-FO transformation. It ends with this error: System ID: /home/clum/Oxygen XML Author 23/frameworks/dita/DITA-OT3.x/plugins/org.dita.pdf2/build.xml Scenario: DITA Map PDF - based on XSL-FO - Copy Input ...

Re: Error when inserting reusable content

That's interesting. It must be a new bug then (in v23?)! That's because I've created many reusable components with a description in the past, and I've never run into this problem before.

Error when inserting reusable content

I have saved a couple of sentences as reusable content. It was saved as "Selected Text". But when I try to insert this content elsewhere, I keep getting this cryptic error: XPath failed due to: The require item type of the second operand of '|' is node(); the supplied value "Timestamps should only b...

Re: Oxygen XML Editor vs XML Author information

Thanks Radu. I was looking for a video about the new features in Oxygen v23 and I only see one for XML Editor. I didn't watch it yet, thinking it might mislead me about features that's not in XML Author. Overall, there are relatively few videos specific to XML Author, but many for XML Editor. I've a...

Oxygen XML Editor vs XML Author information

I am a little confused by all the different versions of Oxygen. We use Oxygen XML Author, but on your web site most of the videos seem to be for your XML Editor. My question: how similar are these two products? Is XML Editor considered a subset of XML Author, or the other way around? Most of your vi...

Re: PDF: Fails with XSL-FO but succeeds with HTML5&CSS

Thanks for the feedback, Greg and Julien.

I use the default XSL-FO transformation with a few slight tweaks. I'll try the troubleshooting tip. In the meanwhile, I went back to another project with a known history of PDF'ing properly and was able to get my new outline to PDF.

I have a project that succeeds when I use the transformations " DITA Map WebHelp Responsive " and " DITA Map PDF - based on HTML & CSS ". However it fails when I use " DITA Map PDF - based on XSL-FO ". Unfortunately, I need to use the XSL-FO transformation. I cannot decipher the transformation probl...

Re: Published WebHelp: file not accessible

I figured out the problem--it was a simple (silly) mistake, easily corrected. But the output from OxygenXML was very unexpected--I don't know if it points to a bug in your product or in DITA. Let me try to describe it succinctly: In constructing my new project, I created a new top level ditamap at t...

I have done a validation, and aside from some warnings, I don't see anything that would prevent the WebHelp from being generated successfully. As I mentioned, I've been generating WebHelp every so often as I create the new structure, and previous outputs were successful. Oddly, I created a PDF and i...

Page breaks within tables

Ever since switching to OxygenXML (and DITA), I've been wrestling with how the PDF engine decides on page breaks. Here is an example: in the attached screenshot, you'll see that there's plenty of space to include the row on the left side page, yet the rendering engine decided to move it to the next ...

This must be simple, but I cannot find the solution. I can use the Open/Find Resource command to search for a specific topic within my DITA Map. From the search results, I can double-click to open the topic. But I'd like to know where in my map is the topic located. How can I do this?

How to exclude text using both a DITIVAL file and "props"?

My project uses two DITIVAL files to toggle between terminology used for two area of our product. They are used for shared topics where only a name differs. For example, we tag text with props="area1" and props="area2" . We then use two DITIVAL files that contain: <prop action="exclude" att="props" ...

Thanks for the info. Now I'm having a difficult time trying to identify which ".css" file to add this code snippet.

Is there a default .css that Oxygen uses for PDF? Or do I need to create a new custom .css for PDF?

Font issues in Mac vs. Linux installations of Oxygen

I have OxygenXML installed on both a Linux desktop and Macbook Pro. The Linux box is correctly configured to produce PDFs like how we want it. However it's been more of a chore to get the Mac to produce correct PDFs. I've reached a point where the Mac almost produces the same output. But there is a ...

Topic referenced as "resource only" warnings

When I validate my project, I see a slew of informational warnings like this: "Topic <name> is referenced in the DITA map as "resource-only". Any cross reference to it will result in a broken link" I found a response back in 2017 that seems to address this: https://www.oxygenxml.com/forum/topic14262...
