AI Positron "privacy layer"

Post by Katy »

Hi, I am very interested in using the AI Positron assistant, but as far as I can tell there is no "privacy layer" for the plugin, and users are subject to the ChatGPT open source agreement.

By "privacy layer" I mean the AI assistant would be "sandboxed" or corralled in my instance of OxygenXML and not share my company's proprietary info with the public LLM, if that makes sense.

Just wondering if Syncro Soft is planning to offer some type of privacy layer for the Positron Assistant in a future release?

For my specific use case, we publish documentation behind a client login, and we also do not have an onsite LLM. So private generative AI functionality inside of a CMS would be very useful for us.

Hi,
Please see some answers below:
I am very interested in using the AI Positron assistant, but as far as I can tell there is no "privacy layer" for the plugin, and users are subject to the ChatGPT open source agreement.
ChatGPT is an application built with the OpenAI APIs. Our AI Positron uses directly the Open AI APIs.
The OpenAI privacy agreement is listed here:
https://openai.com/enterprise-privacy/
We do not train on your business data (data from ChatGPT Team, ChatGPT Enterprise, or our API Platform)
You own your inputs and outputs (where allowed by law)
You control how long your data is retained (ChatGPT Enterprise)
Also the terms of service and privacy policy for our AI Posistron platform are listed here:
https://aipositron.oxygenxml.com/
By "privacy layer" I mean the AI assistant would be "sandboxed" or corralled in my instance of OxygenXML and not share my company's proprietary info with the public LLM, if that makes sense.
Most capable AI engines are cloud based, they require too much computation to be run on the client side.
The Oxygen AI Positron Enterprise add-on allows connecting to your own LLM instance:
https://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/versions/ ... prise.html
For example the OpenAI connector can be used with an OLLama server installed locally to connect to a local started Mistral AI engine:
https://ollama.com/
I tried working with the add-on and Mistral running on my computer but it's not as capable as OpenAI or Claude (which run in the cloud).
Just wondering if Syncro Soft is planning to offer some type of privacy layer for the Positron Assistant in a future release?
As stated above the terms of service and privacy policy for our AI Posistron platform are listed at the end of this page:
https://aipositron.oxygenxml.com/
Lots of services we are consuming nowadays are cloud based, Google Docs is cloud based...
For my specific use case, we publish documentation behind a client login, and we also do not have an onsite LLM. So private generative AI functionality inside of a CMS would be very useful for us.
Oxygen is not a CMS. You could for example create on Microsoft Azure an OpenAI instance and use it with the Oxygen AI Positron Enterprise add-on.

Okay thanks for the info. Other tool developers like Heretto offer a "privacy wall" or "partitioned" configuration for their AI copilot (as I understand it from a recent demo), so I was just curious and thought I'd ask about it. AI is a rapidly emerging field that I am trying to understand better and investigate how to use in my job; I may have oversimplified or used incorrect terminology since it is a new area of knowledge to me.

Regarding "CMS", I tend to use the term generically, since OxygenXML Editor is what we have used for the past five years to store and manage our documentation. I have also seen it labeled as such elsewhere on the web but will keep in mind that it's a misnomer.

Hi Katy,
I do not have details about what Heretto offers and how they claim to provide this "privacy wall".

With Oxygen desktop you have these two choices:
1) Use our "AI Positron" add-on with subscription based licensing if your legal team accepts the privacy agreement of OpenAI:
https://openai.com/enterprise-privacy/
and our positron platform:
https://aipositron.oxygenxml.com/
2) Use our "AI Positron Enterprise" add-on to connect to an OpenAi virtual machine started on a company specific Microsoft Azure account. So you could have your system admins set up in Microsoft Azure the company specific OpenAI instance and everyone would use that.
