Introduction

An introduction to Oxygen Content Fusion and how it supports content management, collaborative reviews, and automated publishing.

About Oxygen Content Fusion

Oxygen Content Fusion is a cloud-based collaboration platform for managing, reviewing, and publishing structured content. It provides Content Management, Collaborative Reviews, and Automated Publishing as key capabilities, enabling XML experts and subject matter experts (SMEs) to work together efficiently.

The platform combines structured authoring with Git-based version control, browser-based real-time collaboration tools, and support for AI-assisted workflows. This allows distributed teams to create and maintain complex projects while ensuring consistency, traceability, and high content quality.

Content Management

Oxygen Content Fusion helps technical teams manage structured documentation through Projects. Each project connects to a Git repository that stores the project sources, such as DITA topics, maps, images, and other resources.

Within a project, users can:

  • Browse and manage project files.

  • Validate and search content.

  • Edit content in the web-based editor.

  • Use AI agents to assist with content creation and refinement.

  • Track and commit changes to the repository.

  • Collaborate with reviewers through review tasks.

  • Manage publications and their deliverables.

Using Git as the underlying repository ensures full version history, traceability, and efficient collaboration between team members.

Collaborative Reviews

Oxygen Content Fusion enables collaborative reviews through Review Tasks, allowing authors to easily involve subject-matter experts (SMEs) in the content review process.

Review tasks provide a streamlined, browser-based review environment where reviewers can:

  • Read and navigate documentation.

  • Add comments.

  • Suggest edits.

  • Participate in discussions with authors and other reviewers.

Multiple collaborators can work on the same document simultaneously, seeing edits, comments, and suggestions in real time without file locking.

Review tasks can be created directly from projects, ensuring that feedback is tracked and can be easily integrated back into the project sources. Alternatively, independent review tasks can be created from Oxygen XML Editor or Oxygen XML Author, using Oxygen Content Fusion as a collaborative review platform.

Automated Publishing

Publishing capabilities are available for Oxygen Content Fusion Projects, allowing teams to generate deliverables directly from their structured content.

Projects can define publications that represent logical documentation sets (for example, a user guide for a specific product or version). Each publication can generate one or more deliverables, such as:

  • WebHelp documentation.

  • PDF manuals.

Publishing pipelines transform the structured content into high-quality output formats. These pipelines can be configured to automatically produce deliverables when content is ready, and the generated output can be downloaded or integrated into external distribution systems. Built-in and custom templates allow teams to customize the appearance of their documentation and ensure consistent branding across all deliverables.
