Optimize WebHelp search with a synonym list

Hello,
Is it possible to manage a synonym list in WebHelp to optimize search results?
For example, if you define "America" = "United-States" in this list, search on "America" will retrieve topics with "United-States" text inside.
Thanks.
BR,
Nicolas

Hi Nicolas,
This feature would be useful for us as well.
I have seen a suggestion to add synonym keywords to individual topics to emulate this. For us, this is impractical because (1) we have tens of thousands of topics, and (2) we would somehow need to batch-update them if we update our synonym definition list.
Instead, we would want some kind of synonym definition list that WebHelp incorporates directly into its search engine. This could be configured by a WebHelp parameter that specifies a synonym definition file so that they can be configured as part of a centrally administered publishing template.

Hi,
Unfortunately, in the current WebHelp implementation this is not possible. But, I have added your feedback as a feature request to our issue tracking tool to be analyzed by our development team.

Ionela

Hi,
Unfortunately, this issue is not scheduled for implementation in the shot/medium term roadmap.
But, you can now set the in the Oxygen WebHelp as a search engine Oxygen Feedback:
https://www.oxygenxml.com/oxygen_feedback.html
Starting with version 4.0 of Oxygen Feedback (that will be released soon) a semantic search feature is implemented that might be very useful for your use-case.
Semantic Search
A Semantic search is a data searching technique that delivers more accurate results by understanding the real intent behind the search and providing an enhanced user experience. Oxygen XML WebHelp now supports semantic searches to help produce more relevant search results. This feature requires an integration with the OpenAI platform by specifying an API key
