[oXygen-user] Automatic Validation - in text mode, in Eclipse release of oXygen

Hi Adrian,
We are using that release of 16.1 in Eclipse.

We have been using Eclipse 3.5.2 because that is the recommended version for IXIASOFT's DITA CMS Client, in the old 3.4 series of their software.
Their 4.x series uses Eclipse 4.x.

Thanks for your observation, we will migrate to newer versions of "everything" in the next few months.
This means we can expect this to improve when we migrate.

All my very best,
Rob

Hi,

Check the build number of your v16.1 plugin (Window > Preferences, oXygen). Make sure you have the latest build of v16.1, 2015040615. There may be some bugs that were fixed in later maintenance builds.

What version of Eclipse are you using with v17.1 and 15.1?
Is there a specific reason you are still using such an old version of Eclipse, 3.5.2, with v16.1?
I'm asking because since v17.0 of Oxygen this version of Eclipse is no longer supported, so it's difficult to compare results.
When I tested your described setup I used Eclipse 4.3 and v16.1 worked for me fine with that (as long as Automatic Validation is enabled).

Regards,
Adrian

Hi
Automatic validation is on in the settings for this file.
For instance, in Author mode, changing a value that affects the validity changes the highlighting in about 1 second.
In Text mode, validation is automatically triggered only when I save the file.

Again, this is a problem only in Eclipse, only in text mode.
In standalone oXygen 15.1 and 17.1, validation in text mode works as expected.
In oXygen in Eclipse, validation works as expected in Author mode.

Rob

Hello,

How is the validation scenario configured?
Did you enable "Automatic validation" for the validation unit that applies your Schematron rules.
When you switch the mode between Author and Text, an automatic validation is triggered, so only those validation units that are enabled for "Automatic validation" are run automatically.

Adrian

I notice that it actually runs the validation when I save the file, but not at any other time.

Hi
I have developed some schematron rules to apply to DITA content for our staff.

We use the IXIASOFT CMS Client, which means that we are using oXygen inside of Eclipse.
When I open a file in Author Mode, the schematron rules are applied automatically.
Red and yellow underlines flag the items considered invalid by the Schematron rules.

When I switch to editing the file in Text mode, the Schematron rules are not applied automatically.
I have to manually run validation.

We are behind in the IXIASOFT releases, so we are using Eclipse 3.5.2 and oXygen 16.1.

Is there a setting I can change to fix this?
Is this fixed in oXygen 17.1?
Is it fixed in newer versions of Eclipse?

All my very best,
Rob
