View hidden characters like tab

Hi,

We use oXygen within Eclipse to author DITA XML documents. I was wondering if there is a way to view hidden characters like a tab vs space to see which one the user has used? This would be to see whether someone has used multiple spaces in a row or a tab.

Thanks,
Belinda

Hi Belinda

In the oXygen Eclipse plugin this option is not available within oXygen, as Eclipse already has this functionality. To view the hidden characters (tab, space) you need to enable Show whitespace characters option from
Window -> Preferences -> General -> Editors -> Text Editors.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Ionela

This doesn't work and now I have the same problem. Bearing in mind this answer is 3 years old, could you answer the same question but for XML Editor 18.0, build 2016051118? I would be really grateful.

Hi,

The option mentioned here (Show whitespace characters) is still working with Eclipse 4.5+Oxygen XML Editor 18.0 in Windows.

1. On what platform (Windows, Linux, Mac) and with what version and distribution of Eclipse are you using the Oxygen Eclipse plugin?
2. Are you using the Text mode or the Author mode from Oxygen?
3. Are you sure it isn't working? The whitespace markers are really subtle, especially in Author mode.

Adrian
