Oxygen XML Editor vs XML Author information

I am a little confused by all the different versions of Oxygen. We use Oxygen XML Author, but on your web site most of the videos seem to be for your XML Editor.

My question: how similar are these two products? Is XML Editor considered a subset of XML Author, or the other way around?

Most of your videos are under the "XML Editor" category and I'd like to know how relevant they are to me. I realize that there is a large overlap, but I don't want to spend time watching material that's not relevant to me.

Hi Carl,

Oxygen XML Editor is a superset of XML Author.
Besides support for general XML editing (similar with XML Author) Oxygen XML Editor has support for editing XSLT stylesheets, XML Schemas and DTDs and various tools for schema conversion. We have a feature matrix here:
https://www.oxygenxml.com/xml_editor/fe ... atrix.html
You can select "XML Editor" and "XML Author" as products and check the "Hide common features" checkbox to see a detailed list of changes.
Oxygen XML Editor is also more expensive than Oxygen XML Author.

Radu

Thanks Radu. I was looking for a video about the new features in Oxygen v23 and I only see one for XML Editor. I didn't watch it yet, thinking it might mislead me about features that's not in XML Author.

Overall, there are relatively few videos specific to XML Author, but many for XML Editor. I've always wondered how much value these videos are to me.

Hi Carl,

All videos about editing XML documents should apply also to the XML Author functionality.
Videos about editing XML Schemas, DTDs, XSLT Stylesheets, or about schema conversions do not apply to the XML Author functionality.
Making a video involves a considerable amount of preparation time and we do not record the same video twice, once with a started XML Editor, and once with an XML Author as they share about the same functionality except the differences that I already explained in my previous reply.

Radu
