Hi,

One of my colleagues has a problem in Oxygen 22.1 that I cannot reproduce:
She was surprised that her last edited files no longer opened after she had switched to Oxy 22.1.
I asked her to check if "Open last edited files from project" is activated in the preferences and if she has opened the project that all our authors should use. No project was open. When she opened it, the problem was not solved.
So we tried deactivating the option, re-opening the project, then re-activating the option, and checked at the same time if her projectEditingStateAuthor22.1.xml changed. When we saw that this worked, the files were re-opened as usual.
Then the next day, the problem re-appeared.
How can this happen?

From the file name (projectEditingStateAuthor22.1.xml) I am assuming your colleague uses Oxygen XML Author 22.1.
Was the project editing state file still in place the next day? Did your colleague check?

I'm asking about the file because there are environments in which the user profile (where the Oxygen preferences are stored) is configured to be a roaming profile and it must be synced with the server, or in some environments some user profiles are even non-persistent (changes are lost after logging out).

I asked my colleage to check what's happening:
This morning, when she started her computer, the projectEditingStateAuthor22.1.xml file contained all references to the files that had been open yesterday when she closed Oxygen.
Then she opened Oxygen. All files were reopened.
Then she closed and reopened Oxygen. Then all previously opened files suddenly were not opened.
Then she opened other files, closed and reopened Oxygen. Newly opened files were reopened.

Another thing that's remarkable is that all ditamaps are reopened. This behavior seems to only affect topics.

Any ideas?

That's strange if it's indeed in the same application.

Just to clarify, what application bundle does you colleague have installed? Oxygen XML Editor or Oxygen XML Author (Check the installation folder name of the application).

I'm asking because Oxygen XML Editor also includes Oxygen XML Author in its bundle. But they are separate applications with separate options. So, if you leave your files open in Author, you won't find them open when you start Editor, even if it's the same project.
So in short, make sure it's the same application (Help > About), either Oxygen XML Editor or Oxygen XML Author, but not an alternation of the two.

My colleague only has Oxygen XML Author installed. So there's no chance of alternating between Author and Editor.

Would it be possible to send us the "projectEditingStateAuthor22.1.xml " file for analysis? The one from when the references are still present (BEFORE).
Actually when it happens again, also send the file after it happened. Comparing the files might give us some clues as to what may be happening.
