Uninformative "error" indicator in Editor 22.1 project view?

For oXygen XML Editor 22.1 on Linux Mint 64-bit.

Per the following screenshot (oops, the oXygen forum provides no way to upload a screenshot from my computer), XML Editor 22.1 overlays my project's XPR file with a red-encircled exclamation point.

I've been working with computers since 1981 (many years before GUIs), use Python 3 to create content-conversion and content analysis utilities, have been by choice been using Linux Mint as my operating system since December 2017. Point being that I am a reasonably skilled user of computers and computer software. Yet I cannot for the life of me find my way past this counter-informative "error" message.
  1. IF I hover over the XPR item, I'm told that the XPR file is missing. But it seems that it is NOT because below it are the (DITA-OT's) project files.
  2. I've tried tricking oXygen XML into recognizing an empty XPr project file by manually creating an empty XPR file. That didn't work.
  3. The message provided when I hover over the "error" provides me with NO idea how to clear this reputed "error".
Should I delete something? Update a reference? Hop in a circle on one leg? What?

[*]I have tried multiple times to use oXygen XML 22.1 to create a new XPR file. The usual MATE GUI sequence does NOT create an XPR file.

My opinion is that oXygen XML's Project tools would do better to more fully conform with "normal" Create / Read / Update /Delete (CRUD) file management conventions. As I said, as one who has been using computers since 1981, I find oXygen's project management utilities to be counter-intuitive if not functionally opaque...

I'll happily provide any additional information required to more fully explain the problem. In the meantime it's more than annoying to have what seems to be an otherwise functional oXygen XML Project complain that it can't find itself. Sigh...

Cheers & thanks in advance,

Hello,

Thank you for the feedback.
1. IF I hover over the XPR item, I'm told that the XPR file is missing. But it seems that it is NOT because below it are the (DITA-OT's) project files.
Oxygen checks via Java's File.exists() if the file is indeed there in the file system. Are you saying that the file is really there, but Oxygen reports it's missing? That seems highly unusual and frankly it is an unhandled situation. Or that Oxygen induces to error because it lists project files?
If the file is indeed there, it's possible that the xpr file could be corrupted. I'll have to check what happens if that's the case.
[*]I have tried multiple times to use oXygen XML 22.1 to create a new XPR file. The usual MATE GUI sequence does NOT create an XPR file.
I don't understand what you tried. Did you try creating the file from the Linux OS templates? Oxygen doesn't contribute to the OS file templates.
You can create a new project file from within Oxygen, menu > Project > New Project. Or is that not what you're looking for?

If the problem persists, please send us (to support@oxygenxml.com) the .xpr file in question for analysis.

Regards,
Adrian

Thanks Adrian.

Whatever the problem was, it seems to have magically resolved itself. I started XML Editor 22.1 and the red circle containing an exclamation point no longer overlaid the project icon.

I have no idea why. I wasn't able to change anything on the way to resolving the problem. Sigh...

Cheers & thanks 'gain,

Hi,

Is the .xpr file in the local file system or from a network location or removable drive?

Hey Adrian.

The XPR file is on my Linux Mint 20's hard drive. I found my way to it by right-clicking the XPR file, choosing Copy Location, then viewing it in the MATE desktop' managers CAJA file browser.

I have no idea what happened. When the problem occurred it seemed like oXygen Editor 22.1 could not for some reason "see" the XPR file.

Anyhow, the problem seems to have magically resolved itself. I'm happy to let it go at that... :?

Cheers & thanks as always,
