.tdi term lists - phrases possible?

Hi,
I can't work out whether it's possible to add a multiple word phrase to the spellcheck dictionaries in a .tdi file - searching the web, I've found conflicting information about Hunspell, without any clear detail.
What I'd like is to have something like this:

Code: Select all

*power-on
*power on
power up
...such that "power-on" or "power on" would be flagged, and ideally, "power up" be suggested. Is this possible with just a .tdi? If not, would customising the .aff file get me anywhere? Or am I limited to checking single words without spaces?
Thanks in advance!

Hello,

At least for Oxygen (v18), it is only possible to use single words. So, you can flag "*power-on" and that's about it.
I don't see a way to make this work for multiple words.

You could use "AutoCorrect" (Options > Preferences > Editor / Edit Modes / Author / AutoCorrect) and replace "power-on" and "power on" with "power up". But this only works in Author mode and only while typing.

Regards,
Adrian

Does anyone know if the .tdi file will now accept flagging compound words in version 20?
I work in aviation and have a long list of words that should be flagged as wrong when written as two words:
check list
check point
clam shell
coast guard
coast line
etc.

Hi,

Our spell checker only checks words, it does not check terminology terms containing multiple words.
At some point I wrote a blog post which should give you some choices to implement what you want:

Thank you Radu; that helps. Have started adding the words to a schematron file.
