Oxygen Author: epub editor

Hi all,

I’ve searched through the forum, and can’t quite find the thread I’m looking for . . .

I’ve been using an InDesign to Sigil workflow to do my epubs for several reasons:
  • I can rename files output by InDesign and have their references automatically updated within all xhtml files, "content.opf", and the TOC;
  • I can generate a Navigation (NavMap playorder) TOC and create an inline Table of Contents, xhtml file, from element names;
  • navigation generation will update the navMap entries in the TOC file;
I am being introduced to Oxygen Author epub editing feature and am unable to locate, or ascertain, if any of these features are available, and how they work.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hello,

In Oxygen, the EPUB files are handled as containers for files, not as documents with chapters as most visual EPUB editors do. Therefore, there's no management/refactoring for EPub files. The refactoring support is available instead for DITA and DocBook document types.
Oxygen is not a specialized EPUB editor, it will not automatically create or update links in the "OPF" or "NCX" files.

Basically the support oXygen provides for ePub is intended for only low level editing and validation of such documents.

From the above mentioned reasons, the generation of a navigation TOC and automatic update of its entries is also not possible.

Costin
