fop-pdf-images in DITA transformation

Hi,

I am using Oxygen 11 and I want to include pdf images into the DITA topics and make pdf using DITA OT with Fop. The manual explains how I can add a new FO-processor using "fop-pdf-images"-application but the solution does not seems to work if I use DITA transformation scenarios.

Is there a way to add "fop-pdf-images" into DITA transformation scenario?

Regards, Pekka

Dear Pekka,

Thank you for contacting us.
What manual are you referring to? The Oxygen or the Apache FOP manual?

We tested with an Apache FOP PDF Images plugin from:
http://www.jeremias-maerki.ch/download/ ... bin.tar.gz
and it seems to work.

Just download and unpack the plugin distribution in a folder on your drive.

Then, edit the DITA Map transformation scenario from Oxygen, go to the "Advanced" tab, click the "Libraries" button and add to the libraries list all the "jar" libraries from the unpacked plugin directory.

Radu

Thanks Radu,

I did not notice the "Libraries" button in the Transformation scenario. Problem solved.

Hi,

Got the same problem as Pekka and this package solved part of the problem. I can include now pdf pictures, they come nicely to the final transformed pdf, but I can't see them in author view. Just an error message about unsupported file type.

Any solutions?

thanks,

Mateus

Hi Mateus,

The Oxygen Author page does not yet support rendering PDF images.
We'll try to address this limitation in a future version.

In the meantime if all your images are PDF I could give you some hints about changing the CSS used for rendering DITA topics in the Author page to at least avoid showing those ugly error messages.

Radu

Thanks Radu,

This is not a problem, I can use other formats as well. Sometimes just it is convenient to use pdf's. And the author page isn't so much of WYSIWYG anyway...

Hi Mateus,

In Oxygen 15.2 we'll try to allow the possibility for rendering PDF in the Author visual editing mode, more details here:
