Smart paste looses DOCX formatting

Hi,
when I first tested Oxygen XML's smart paste function with a Word document, the formatting was preserved in the DITA topic (if I remember corretly). Now it looses all formatting when I paste content I copied from DOCX. So tables are not inserted as tables , there is no bold highlighting, and so on....
Do you know what might be the reason?
Kind regards

Hi,

What version of Oxygen do you use?
The smart paste has a mechanism that checks if some words from your content were lost in the conversion process and insert plain text if it considers it.

I need a Word sample to identify the problem. Could you send us one? You can attach it here or text us at support@oxygenxml.com
If the document contains confidential data, do the following steps to hide the text content from it:
  1. Make a copy of the document and open it in the "Archive Browser" view from Oxygen
  2. From the Archive Browser view, open the "word/document.xml" file in the main editor.
  3. Invoke the Help > Support Tools > Randomize XML text content action and click Finish in the opened dialog.
After these steps, the Word document will contain only random text.

Best regards,
Cosmin

I sent a sample file via mail. And we use the latest version 24.1 (Editor and Author).

I found the problem: The affected PC only had Wordpad installed. It can open and save DOCX but apparently this is not enough. When I tried it on a PC where Word is installed, it works fine.

Indeed, the smart paste doesn't work on Wordpad.
You can use the Batch Documents Converter add-on to convert your Word document to DITA on that computer. After this, you can extract fragments from the resulted DITA document.
This is the documentation topic of the add-on: https://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/versions/ ... addon.html

Best regards,
