Tracking the search results page in webhelp responsive

Hello,

We would like to track what our users search in our webhelp responsive output and what link they click on the search page.

I'm not very familiar with tracking, so my first question is: is there a way to dynamically add a dataLayer script to the search results page source code when a user runs a search?
And would it be possible at all to track what a user clicks on the results page?

Best,
Christina

Hi Christina,

There is no out-of-the-box support for the dataLayercript, but you could probably make use of the WebHelp HTML conent insertion capability to use your own Java scripts.
There is the How to Insert HTML Content section in the User-Guide that describes how you could add custom HTML content in the WebHelp resposnive output, content which may contain references to JavaScript resources.

I will also log a feature request in our internal tracking system, so we will notify this thread when/if an implementation for this will become available.

Regards,
Costin

Hi Costin,

Thanks for logging this as a feature request. I will check if we can add our own Java script to insert the dataLayer.

Best regards,
Christina
