Apply a Schematron file to DITA topic editing, but not full-map validation?

Is there a way to apply a particular Schematron file to the topic editing window but not full-book validation?
We've implemented many of our internal "style guide" writing suggestions in Schematron. These suggestions pertain to aspects of writing such as avoiding first-person, passive voice, contractions, and nonstandard abbreviations.
But when we apply the "Automatic validation" checkbox for this file, it also gets applied during full-bookmap validation performed from the DITA Maps Manager, which creates quite a volume of writing suggestions for the entire book!
(And we do have another Schematron file with element-structure checks that *should* be included in full-bookmap validation.)
Is there a way to do this?
