Hello,

Is there a process to convert from version 1.1 to 1.2? I understand that 1.2 is backwards compatible however we use some custom tags, is there a validator that I can test to ensure it is in proper format?

Also I am having a hard time finding good documentation on Dita (DTDs, .mod files etc). Is there a good tutorial available?

Thank you.

Hi,

Is your question about migrating from DITA 1.1 to 1.2 or from 1.2 to 1.3?
How exactly did you add those custom tags, did you create a DITA specialization plugin or did you modify directly the DTDs? Do your topics refer to the DOCTYPE declaration using a custom public ID?
The proper way to perform a specialization is by constructing a DITA DTD specialization plugin.
Eliot Kimber's tutorial should cover this:

http://www.xiruss.org/tutorials/dita-specialization/

Once you have a specialization plugin you can integrate it in the DITA OT distribution which comes with Oxygen:

https://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/versions/ ... ation.html

Oxygen 18.0 by default has DITA 1.3 support enabled and it uses by default for publishing the DITA Open Toolkit 2.x (OXYGEN_INSTALL_DIR]/frameworks/dita/DITA-OT2.x). This is controlled from the Oxygen Preferences->DITA page.
