Horizontal scrolling with trackpad (MacBook)

Apple's notebooks all have the ability to scroll both vertically and horizontally by using 2 fingers on the trackpad. Vertical scrolling is mostly okay in oXygen (although I think I remember one or two spots where it didn't seem to work? Not 100% sure there…).

However, horizontal scrolling via the 2 finger trackpad motion is not supported--and it's very sorely missed! Not only is screen real estate at a premium on notebook computers, but this feature becomes second nature so very quickly that it's easily taken for granted.

2 finger horizontal trackpad scrolling for MacBooks. It's a Good Thing â„¢!

oXygen is a Java application, so it depends on the Java implementation for things like scrolling. Unfortunately, the current Java version 1.4 and 1.5 do not support the horizontal scrolling using the trackpad or the MightyMouse.

The good news is that Apple solved this problem in Java SE 6 Developer Preview 5 which will be available in the new Mac OS X version 10.5

Thank you,
